Autumn's Ghosts

While wandering the autumn woods, our brave knight stumbled upon a precious bag of gems. But these aren't just shiny rocks, they act as your lifeforce! Unfortunately, a horde of greedy skeletons saw him too, and now they want the loot.

In this action-packed defense game, you must fight off endless waves of undead to protect your treasure. There's a visual catch: both you and your enemies are paper-thin 2D characters living in a 3D world. Because the skeletons are completely flat, they easily hide in plain sight, vanishing from certain angles like ghosts. You must constantly rotate your camera to reveal their approach.

Between waves, you have the option to draft magical upgrade cards to help you fight. However, these cards cost gems. Since your gems are effectively your health, every upgrade you buy makes you stronger but leaves you more vulnerable to dying. Spend wisely, shift your perspective, swing your sword, and don't let them take your gems!


The game was made for a game jam, in 4 days. 

The theme was "Critical Points"

We explored "critical points" in two distinct mechanics within the core loop:

• Critical Viewpoints: Because the characters are flat 2D sprites in a 3D environment, enemies are invisible from certain angles. The player must constantly shift their camera to find the "critical point" of view to spot the hidden, ghost-like skeletons.
• Critical Decisions: Your gems act as your health pool. Between rounds, you can purchase upgrade cards using these gems. This creates a critical turning point in the gameplay. spending your gems gives you powerful upgrades but lowers your health, meaning every purchase can affect your run positively or negatively. The player must constantly balance the risk and reward of these critical choices.
